Common shower problems to watch for

• Shower drain: hair and soap scum are the most common causes of blocked shower drains. If water is pooling around your feet, the drain needs clearing before it backs up completely.
• Grout and silicone seals: cracked or missing grout allows water to seep behind tiles and into the wall cavity, causing damage that is often invisible until it becomes serious.
• Shower head and taps: low water pressure can indicate a blocked filter or partially closed valve. Dripping taps after the shower is turned off usually means the washers need replacing.
